Day 2-3

These Grand Tetons are quite grand indeed. I got to bike into the entrance of the park- where I had to plead that my husband had the pass- and it was majestic. It was perfect weather, fall colors, mostly down hill, excitement about our first park, and time outside exercising. I started to realize that 8 hour car days used to be not a big deal, but with our current baggage, that makes for a long day. Now we know.

But it was completely worth it. These national parks really have a lot figured out (someone let Trump know). The roads take you to spectacular views and the the trails are so well maintained that Kolton took an hour long nap bouncing around.

We are trying to take it all in, but it is so much sensory overload. We are learning about our camper- like how to turn on the heat. We are learning about RV Parks- like how to plug in our poop tube like the other guys. We are learning about national parks- like which hikes labeled “strenuous” that we can do with a baby. We are learning about Kolton- and how being outside is a cure for most ailments, and how 3 head bonks a day is a success. Most of all we are learning about ourselves. I am learning how to play Yahtzee with sportsmanship. Narendra is learning how to reorganize 40 days worth of stuff in 120 SF.  And together we are learning how to communicate in a way that reflects an understanding that we are both learning even when things don’t go well.  Well see what Day 20 brings, but for today I would say the highs are higher, the lows are lower, but the in betweens on average exceed any day in “real life.”

  1. I’d be surprised if you learned sportsmanship playing any board game...
